Our Program
The goal of our breeding program here at Silver Luck Farm is to breed exceptional foals for the disposition, trainability, size and movement to be top competitors in the quarter horse industry today and for youth and amateur riders to enjoy. We accomplish this with the small group of carefully selected mares of proven bloodlines, offspring, conformation, disposition, and performance records. The mares are bred to top AQHA stallions in the country producing our exceptional foals creating strong, good minded, athletic horses with promising futures in the show pen. Our passion for breeding, raising and showing quarter horses is reflected in everything we do, from our carefully curated selection of horses, trainers, veterinarians, farriers, and care services. Our facilities include spacious stalls, daily turnout, large pastures, and top-quality feed, supplements, and alfalfa/hay.
We look forward to matching buyers with our quality quarter horse prospects to meet their show pen goals.
Lauren Smith
Lauren Calhoun Smith grew up in San Antonio TX and has had a love of horses since she was three years old. Lauren grew up riding and showing horses, and today has expanded into breeding Quarter Horses and standing her stallion Painted Detail. She is a graduate of Texas A&M - Corpus Christi with a BBA degree. Lauren currently works for Professional Estate Sales and is a realtor in San Antonio, TX.
Tres Smith
Tres Smith grew up in Harlingen TX and is a graduate of Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. He is currently working as an RPLS (Registered Professional Land Surveyor) in San Antonio at Nustar Energy. After dating for over six years Tres proposed to Lauren and they were married on June 2, 2007 and started Silver Luck Farm. Tres has developed a love for horses over the past few years and is now riding reining horses .
PAINTED DETAIL 1999-2019
Painted Detail is a 1999 16.2 Hand AQHA/APHA Grey Overo Stallion
He is sired by AQHA World and Congress Champion Last Detail out of Frenchie Gail (TB), AQHA Res World Champion Producer. He had his ROM in Hunter Under Saddle with additional points in Halter and Western Pleasure. Painted Detail was a 2010 World Show Qualifier and was retired to breeding.
We were blessed to own and stand Painted Detail affectionately known as Greyfuss for ten years. He was truly a one-of-a-kind stallion and never met a stranger, he will be greatly missed.
